My gestural process progress video as of February 22nd.
The month is almost over! It looks like I’m making some progress. After watching last weeks video (which I didn’t bother posting but you can see it here and here) my scratchy attack line style didn’t sit to well with me so I experimented with sketchbook and made a new pen. I really like the look and feel of it and it also forces me to be a little more conservative with my line work.
I also focused on creating a solid mannequin, trying to solve most of the problems at the base level so I can move forward with the sketch with little to no guess work involved. I also think I’m thinking more about form and the figure as a whole.
I can’t tell you how many times I get in the groove, thing I’m on to something only to feel like I forgot everything in my next session.
Overall, I’m happy with the progress I’ve made over the last few days but I think there is still more to learn in this last week of figure study. I want to make sure that I understand proportion, sometimes my legs and arms are way too long and I don’t want to guess on that anymore. I also Want to work on line economy, try my hardest to make confident, considered strokes.
